Contract Scaling Rule (Half → Full) & Penalties
This article explains how contract scaling works in EdgeProp funded accounts, when you can move from half-size to full-size trading, and the penalties for violations.
Core Rule. Before reaching the Safety Net, you may trade only half of your account’s maximum contract limit. Once Safety Net is reached, you unlock full contracts starting the next full session.
1) Scaling Limits by Account Size
| Account Size | Max Contracts | Allowed Before Safety Net | Allowed After Safety Net | Safety Net |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $50,000 | 10 | 5 | 10 | $52,600 |
| $75,000 | 12 | 6 | 12 | $78,100 |
| $100,000 | 15 | 7 | 15 | $103,600 |
| $150,000 | 20 | 10 | 20 | $154,600 |
| $200,000 | 25 | 12 | 25 | $206,100 |
Example. On a $50K account, you may trade up to 5 contracts until your peak balance reaches $52,600. From the next session, full 10 contracts are permitted.
2) When Can You Scale to Full Size?
- Scaling unlocks only when your peak unrealized balance reaches the Safety Net.
- Full contract size is available starting the next full trading session.
- Even if your balance later drops below Safety Net, you can continue trading full size.
3) Penalties for Violations
Single Violation
- Trader must flatten excess contracts immediately.
- If not corrected, payout request may be denied.
- Account reset to previous EOD balance (day before violation).
- Trader must complete 5 additional compliant days before next payout request.
Repeated / Blatant Violations
- Account closure.
- Forfeiture of balances.
Important. Scaling violations are taken seriously. One mistake, corrected quickly, can be forgiven with conditions. Repeated or intentional oversizing ends the funding relationship.
4) Practical Examples
| Scenario | Result | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 50K account; trader uses 8 contracts before Safety Net. | Violation | Limit = 5 contracts. Trader must close excess immediately or risk payout denial + reset. |
| 100K account; peak hits $103,600 on Monday; trader uses 15 contracts on Tuesday. | Compliant | Safety Net reached; full size unlocked from next full session. |
| 150K account; trader keeps using 20 contracts without ever reaching $154,600. | Breach | Scaling never unlocked. Repeated violation → account closure. |
5) Quick Checklist
- ✅ Trading half-size until Safety Net reached.
- ✅ Safety Net confirmed (see account parameters).
- ✅ Full size only from next session, not mid-session.
- ✅ Flatten excess size immediately if exceeded by mistake.
